The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the DeMonte Capehart NFL Draft Profile.
DeMonte Capehart Background
Position: Defensive Tackle
School:
Clemson
Size:
6-foot-4 7/8, 313 pounds
Class: Senior
2025 stats: 21 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 2 passes defended
Capehart was a four-star recruit in the class of 2020, who signed with Clemson to stay in-state. He didn’t play much in his first two years on campus. In 2022, he played a bit more as a reserve with 12 tackles and two tackles for loss. As a rotational player again in 2023, he tallied 15 tackles for loss and five tackles for loss. He started six games in 2024, registering 21 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. That season he helped Clemson make the CFP. In 2025, Capehart had 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack. He played solidly, but Clemson struggled compared to preseason expectations.
Following the season, Capehart has been preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid to late round pick.
DeMonte Capehart Strengths
Capehart has great size for an NFL interior defensive lineman. He measured in at just below 6-foot-5 and 313 pounds at the NFL Combine. His size gives him good play strength. He also has good length for the position with arms measuring in at just under 34 inches. The combination of his strength and length can make him tough to block.
He makes more of an impact against the run and may be an early down player at the next level. Capehart can occupy blockers well to help his teammates make plays. He also uses his strength and length to help him shed and get into running lanes. Capehart won’t often make tackles, but he helps a team’s run defense in his role.
His ability to take on blocks is great and he is aggressive in doing so. Capehart specifically takes on double teams well, as he holds his ground well. He can anchor and two-gap well, which helps his team get better numbers in the box to defend.
DeMonte Capehart Weaknesses
Capehart is an older prospect in this draft class, as he started his college career in 2020. He will need to have an impact early in his career, as he won’t be given as much time to develop. Capehart has only started for one and a half seasons, although he was behind some good defensive linemen. A late breakout may scare some teams away.
He won’t add much as a pass rusher and may be an early-down only player at the next level. Capehart can push the pocket, but doesn’t have the moves or counters to really get a lot of pressure on quarterbacks. He can work on developing a pass rush plan, but is best suited to just play against the run.
His pad level gets too high, which allows offensive linemen to sustain their blocks. Capehart needs to keep his pad level down to retain his power and get a better push on plays.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
