Today marks the first night of WrestleMania 42. As host John Cena said, this year’s Road to WrestleMania was chaos. However, most of the WWE Superstars made it to Las Vegas without further injury. After a rocky build to the Showcase of the Immortals, an emotional John Cena noted that tonight was a night for WWE Superstars to deliver. Here’s what they delivered during WrestleMania 42 Saturday! Logan Paul Turns on iShowSpeed, Pays for It
The first match of WrestleMania 42 Saturday saw LA Knight team with The Usos to face Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and iShowSpeed. Things looked dire for the streamer when The Usos took out the Tag Team Champions with dual Superkicks to kick off the match. However, Speed got through most of the match unscathed.
As things broke down, iShowSpeed was thrown into Logan Paul, knocking The Maverick off the apron. LA Knight then caused a collision between Austin Theory and Speed, setting the Tag Champ up for a BFT. The Usos and LA Knight got the win!
After the match, Logan Paul accused his friend of ruining his WrestleMania. The Vision member would use his titanum first to knock out Speed. Logan Paul put his partner on the announce table and climbed the ropes to put him through.
However, The Usos and LA Knight made the save. The victors set Logan Paul on the table instead. With encouragement by The Usos and LA Knight, iShowSpeed jumped from the ringpost to drive Logan Paul through the announce table.
The Toolbox Beats Drew McIntyre Again
Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre took their passionate war to the next level in an Unsanctioned Match on WrestleMania 42 Saturday. This match started off hot as Fatu flew through the ropes onto Drew McIntyre during the former WWE Champion’s entrance.
The crowd was hot for Drew McIntyre, even though he was a heel. They reacted in concern when The Chosen One cowered at the sight of a toolbox. This callback was in reference to when CM Punk split the Scot’s head open during Hell in a Cell. Once Drew turned the tables, he took a moment to take a fan’s phone to record a video letting the world know he was “bored at work.”
The two brutes would continue trading blows, bringing the toolbox into play on a couple of occasions. Finally, Jacob would use the toolbox to nail Drew to a table successfully. The Samoan Werewolf scaled the ropes and finished Drew off with a Moonsault for the win.
Paige Returns, Demolition Honored
After WrestleMania moved exclusively to the ESPN+ app, the next match was the Fatal Four-Way Match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. If you need to watch WrestleMania on a VPN, read here.
Each team made its entrance, with The reining Champions, The Irresistible Forces, paying homage to newly inducted WWE Hall of Famers, Demolition, with their ring gear.
The final team to arrive was The Bella Twins. As we reported here, Nikki Bella’s leg injury left the Hall of Famer’s WrestleMania dreams in question. We reported first that Paige was set to replace Nikki Bella. Much to the delight of the Las Vegas crowd, the former Total Divas star returned to WWE for her first match in eight years.
Paige Wins Tag Team Gold with Brie Bella
Just like her first night on the WWE roster, Paige made history. Instead of beating AJ Lee to win the Divas Title, Paige pinned Alexa Bliss to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
As the match came to a close, Alexa Bliss climbed to the top to finish Paige off with a Twisted Bliss. However, the former protege of Bray Wyatt got distracted as Nikki Bella pulled Charlotte Flair off the apron. The injured twin leveled Charlotte with a crutch.
This delay gave Paige enough time to recover as Alexa took off for her finishing move. However, the returning Glampire got her knees up to block Bliss. Paige would then drop Little Miss Bliss with a Rampage to win the Tag Titles her first night back in WWE.
