Great Britain ended the men’s Under-18s World Championship Division II Group A with a narrow 4-3 defeat by Japan.
It means GB will finish fourth in the standings with two victories from five matches.
Yuri Sato gave Japan the lead on the powerplay in the first period (03:42), before GB hit back through Daragh Spawforth (28:22).
Kanata Mori put Japan ahead for the second time just over two minutes later (30:57) and Dan Osaki made it 3-1 to give his side a two-goal lead (33:56).
Ricards Misins closed the gap to reduce the deficit to one by the second intermission (36:40).
GB had Joel Meyers thrown out for charging with just over five minutes remaining and scored short-handed to tie the game with Harry Vant on target (57:22).
But Japan won it on the same powerplay as Hyoga Kishibe scored the game-winner with just over two minutes remaining (57:54).
