The final of the 2026 Barcelona Open is playing on Sunday and we can look forward to a good battle. On one side, veteran Andrey Rublev is looking to reclaim his status among the top ranks; on the other, the reborn Frenchman Arthur Fils aims to match his big ambitions and start winning titles again.
Rublev vs Fils
- Andrey Rublev (World No. 15): After a rocky start to the season, Rublev has found his rhythm on the Barcelona clay. We saw a great game in the semifinals, coming from a set down to defeat Hamad Medjedovic. This marks his 29th career final, and he is hunting for his first title of the year.
- Arthur Fils (World No. 30): The 21-year-old Frenchman is on a tear. He secured his 100th career win in the impressive semifinal win against in-form Spaniard Rafael Jodar. Having already beaten top seeds like Lorenzo Musetti this week, Fils is playing with a level of confidence that makes him very dangerous.
Head-to-Head
The series is currently tied at 1–1. Rublev won their first meeting on hard courts (Hong Kong 2024), but Fils dominated their only previous clay meeting at the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2025.

Surface Advantage? While Rublev is a former Monte-Carlo champion, Fils game how looked great on the Barcelona red clay. The Frenchman is looking for his third ATP 500 title and fourth career title overall.
A win for Fils could get him back into the top 25 and truly boost his standing in the “Race to Turin.”

Predictions
Rublev has surprised in Barca so far but also had a fairly easy draw following Alcaraz withdrawal (wins over Navone, Sonego, Machac and Medjedovic).
Fils is the bookies favorite for the final at around 1.44 (-225) odds and he feels like the most in-form of the two, at the moment. He also comfortably won their last meeting on clay.
Fils to win in two tight sets.
