BRONZE MEDAL FOR GREAT BRITAIN

Great Britain have won the bronze medal the men’s Under-18s World Championship Division II Group A in Romania.

GB won two of their five matches to secure a third-place finish in Târgu Secuiesc.

After an opening-day 5-4 victory over Romania, GB were beaten 1-0 by China a day later.

A 4-1 victory over Spain kept GB’s gold-medal hopes alive, but two regulation-time wins were needed for a chance of promotion.

GB were level with Croatia at 2-2 in the closing stages and gambled by lifting the netminder for the extra skater.

Croatia scored an empty-net goal to take the 3-2 victory and on the final day an entertaining game saw GB narrowly beaten 4-3 by Japan.
