WrestleMania 42 Saturday got a lot of backlash for short match times — and now WWE might already be adjusting for WrestleMania Sunday.
According to PWInsider, there’s an expectation internally that the matches on WrestleMania Sunday will run longer compared to the first night. The report notes that people within WWE are expected to extend match times across the board, especially after Saturday’s lineup saw several bouts fall under the 10-minute mark — including matches featuring Becky Lynch, AJ Lee, and Liv Morgan.
At this point, it’s still unclear whether the change is a direct response to the backlash from WrestleMania Saturday or something that was already part of the plan. Either way, the timing is hard to ignore. WrestleMania Saturday featured multiple matches — including GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton — that wrapped up quicker than many expected.
Now, with Night 2 set to feature major bouts like CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns and Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley, the expectation is that those matches could get more time to breathe.
Bottom line — WWE may already be course-correcting after WrestleMania Saturday, with longer matches potentially on the way for Sunday’s show. Whether that’s a reaction to criticism or just how the card was structured, fans could be in for a very different pace on WrestleMania Sunday.
WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday Lineup:
- World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns
- WWE Women’s Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
