Chief Executive Officer Announcement
Ampthill & District RUFC are delighted to announce that Nick Johnston will be joining the club as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from the beginning of the coming 2026-2027 season.
Nick is a highly respected figure in English rugby union administration and high-performance management, bringing with him a wealth of experience from across the professional game.
He joins us following an outstanding spell at Coventry Rugby (2019–2025), where he progressed from Head of Strategic Development to Managing Director and ultimately CEO. During his time there, Nick played a key role in transforming both the club’s commercial performance and its on-field competitiveness.
Previous roles, Nick served as Performance Director at Northampton Saints, contributing to one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, reaching six major finals in six seasons. He has also held leadership roles at Worcester Warriors and Sale Sharks with a strong focus on academy development and high-performance systems.
Widely recognised as an expert in governance and high-performance environments, Nick brings deep insight into the challenges and opportunities within the modern game, alongside a proven track record of developing talent and building ambitious, sustainable rugby programmes.
We look forward to welcoming Nick to Ampthill and are excited for what the future holds.
