Ric Flair isn’t sugarcoating his thoughts about his daughter’s WrestleMania 42 performance — and he made it clear he wasn’t impressed.
During WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Charlotte Flair teamed with Alexa Bliss in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match. The bout ended with Brie Bella and the returning Paige picking up the win after Paige stepped in to replace an injured Nikki Bella.
While speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Ric Flair was asked directly what he thought about Charlotte’s match. His response made it clear he wasn’t a fan of how things played out, and he also suggested Charlotte should return to singles competition instead of tag team action. While sharing his thoughts, Flair didn’t hold back about his reaction to the match itself.
“I didn’t like her match at all, and I think that Ashley needs to be, and I know she enjoys her relationship with Alexa, but if Ashley is not in a title picture right now, in my life and as a spectator, without her in the main event in a singles match.”
Flair also pointed to what he believes is Charlotte at her absolute best — competing in major singles matches, especially against top-tier opponents. He specifically brought up Charlotte’s past rivalry with Rhea Ripley, calling their earlier matchup one of the best women’s matches ever.
“The match she had with Rhea Ripley two years ago, they’ve never had a match like that ever in the history of women’s wrestling, and Rhea’s getting gold as well, I’m putting them both over.”
Charlotte Flair has spent much of the past year balancing both singles and tag team competition, but her father’s comments suggest he believes her strongest position is back in the singles title scene.
With Charlotte still one of WWE’s most decorated stars, the question now becomes whether WWE keeps her in tag team competition with Alexa Bliss or shifts her back into the singles spotlight.
Do you agree with Ric Flair’s take, or do you think Charlotte Flair should continue teaming with Alexa Bliss instead of moving back to singles competition?
