The 15-day window to enter the transfer portal is now over.
IU basketball has 10 players secured for its 2026-27 roster and will look to add depth with the remaining spots.
Three outlets – 247Sports, On3 and SBNation – have ranked their top transfer portal classes nationally this spring.
Here’s a look at where IU basketball’s transfer portal class, which has six players, stands in each:
On3.com
The On3 rankings are the highest for IU’s class, ranking it No. 1 nationally as of Wednesday morning.
Here is how On3 ranks its classes: “Measuring a team’s production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.”
The only other Big Ten team currently in the top 10, according to On3’s rankings, is UCLA at No. 3.
Ohio State is No. 16, Nebraska is No. 17, USC is No. 20 and Maryland is No. 25.
247Sports
The 247Sports rankings are also bullish on IU’s portal haul, ranking it No. 3 in the country behind Louisville and Texas.
“Darian DeVries first year in Bloomington didn’t go quite as hoped,” Eric Bossi wrote. “After playing from behind in the portal last spring, DeVries and his staff were ready to pounce this cycle and they’ve clearly upgraded the Hoosiers talent.”
Indiana is currently the only Big Ten team in the top 10 of the 247Sports rankings.
Big Ten teams in the top 25 of the 247Sports rankings include Maryland at No. 16 and UCLA at No. 17.
SBNation
SBNation writer Ricky O’Donnell ranked his top nine portal classes so far and has Indiana at No. 4.
The Hoosiers are the only Big Ten team in the top nine, according to O’Donnell.
Here’s what he wrote about IU’s class: “Darian DeVries missed the NCAA tournament in his first season as Indiana’s head coach and the donors behind him are trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again in year two. Indiana added one of the better scoring guards available in Markus Burton, who was one of the country’s leading scorers as a sophomore before suffering a season-ending ankle injury as a junior. Burton will give the Hoosiers a high offensive floor every night with sharp playmaking instincts, too, and he also does well to get into the passing lanes defensively.
“Aiden Sherrell will be a welcome addition to the front court with his shot-blocking, offensive rebounding, and flashes of outside shooting after spending two years at Alabama. The wildcard of this group feels like Darren Harris, a former high four-star recruit who got lost in the shuffle at Duke last season, but should be a very good shooter with a solid frame. Samet Yigitoglu adds a 7’2 monster in the middle who proved he could block shots, hit the offensive glass, and finish plays inside last season at SMU. Indiana is going to be huge up front with one of the better shot-creating guards in the country in Burton. This team should be a shoo-in for the preseason top-25.”
