Packers’ CEO Ed Policy Announces Decision On Re-Naming Lambeau Field

The Green Bay Packers are one day away from the start of the 2026 NFL Draft.  While they don’t have a first round pick this year (or next) the team has been doing their due diligence when it comes to the top prospects in this year’s draft.

While Green Bay is looking to take their roster from playoff contenders to super bowl contenders, some off-the-field rumors has caught the attention of many Packers fans: the possible renaming of Lambeau Field.

Today, President and CEO Ed Policy gave a big update on that front.

Packers’ Ed Policy Makes Final Call On Re-Naming Lambeau Field

Packers president and CEO Ed Policy confirms the Packers are NOT looking to sell the naming rights to Lambeau field.

According to team president/CEO Ed Policy, Lambeau Field has remained Lambeau Field for more than 60 seasons and will not be changed anytime soon.   Teams like the Los Angeles Rams or Minnesota Vikings (among many others) have sold the naming rights to their stadiums (Sofi, US Bank, etc…) to keep up with rest of the league financially.  Rumors of this possibility first exploded this off-season and was immediately met with backlash of Packers faithful.

However, to maintain Lambeau’s name on the building, other revenue streams will need to be maximized in order to keep up with the in a league where billionaire owners have deep pockets. These owners can also sell small shares of their clubs to private equity firms and raise significant capital virtually overnight, as the Miami Dolphins are reportedly planning to do.

“We don’t have the deep-pocket owner,” Policy explained to reporters covering the meetings at the Arizona Biltmore resort. “We don’t have the ability to sell minority stakes in our team for large sums of money, and we don’t have public investment in the stadium.

“Without any of those revenue streams, we are going to have to be very smart and very methodical in really our business model. [But] that does not mean selling the naming rights to Lambeau Field — certainly no time soon.

“But it does mean being very thoughtful in ticket pricing. It means [being] very thoughtful in maybe some other sponsorship inventory that we have — things like our practice facility and our training facility.”
