India Women’s head coach Amol Muzumdar addressed concerns and Arundhati Reddy’s fitness status ahead of the fourth T20I against South Africa Women in Johannesburg.
During the pre-match press conference on April 24, Muzumdar confirmed that the all-rounder is fit after a scan. “Arundhati Reddy, she went for a scan and she’s all clear. And the medical team is taking well care of her. And yeah, she’s all clear of it. Of course, she came out of the game and didn’t bowl her quota of overs, but she’s clear of everything.”
Reflecting on India’s previous outing, where they posted 192 but still ended up on the losing side, Muzumdar said, “In the last game, we posted 192 on the board, you got to give credit also to somebody like Laura who came up with a superb 100, she batted really well, got to give credit to the opposition when they play well as well.”
He further spoke about the team’s bowling concerns in the series and added, “So I think there’s not much of a concern as far as the senior players are concerned, as I said earlier, the only thing what we were really focusing on, when we have done well in T20 cricket in the last 2 years, we have managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals.”
He also spoke about the key aspects in the series, stating that “we haven’t picked up enough wickets, and we are well aware of it, and we have addressed that.”
India have already lost the five-match series with three back-to-back defeats but will look for better results in the remaining matches.
