Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez predicts Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani

On May 2, at the Tokyo Dome, Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani headlines an Ohashi Promotions fight card. This showdown is one the boxing world has dreamed of, and it’s finally happening. They will collide for Inoue’s undisputed super bantamweight title.

Ahead of this mega fight for Japanese boxing, Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, the unified super bantamweight champion, spoke to Fight Hub TV and revealed his prediction for this fascinating undisputed clash.

Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani set for May 2 showdown

Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) was last seen in action against David Picasso on December 27, a fight he cruised through, winning by unanimous decision, with scorecards of 120-108, 117-111, and 119-109.

Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) stepped up to super bantamweight for the first time in his last fight, on the same card as Inoue. However, it was a much tougher night for Nakatani, as Sebastian Hernandez Reyes more than had his moments, but the cleaner work from Nakatani was enough to get him the decision, with two judges scoring it 115-113, which felt a fair reflection of a close fight, with the 118-110 for Nakatani highly insulting for the competitive performance Hernandez had delivered.

Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani: ‘Bam’ predicts Japanese mega fight

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, ‘Bam’ revealed his prediction for Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani: “I think Inoue wins the fight. Just because he has more experience. He’s been in the weight division longer than Nakatani has. So, I do favour Inoue, but Nakatani does have a chance as well, just because he has that kind of one-punch power.”

Rodriguez was then asked about fighting the winner in his home town and said: “Yeah, hopefully, if not, I don’t mind going to Japan either. I love going to Japan. I love spending time there. I’ve been there plenty of times, but like I said, either San Antonio or Japan, I don’t care where it’s at.”
