The Green Bay Packers have added to their secondary by selecting Brandon Cisse with the 52nd pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former South Carolina Gamecock is now headed to Green Bay, where he will play for the same team that his idol growing up did.

The Green Bay Packers have had question marks in the secondary for a while now, but at the 2026 NFL Draft, general manager Brian Gutekunst has made a significant move to address them. Without their first-round pick thanks to the Micah Parsons trade, the Packers made their first selection of the draft at #52 overall, where they drafted South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse.

At 5’11”, 189 pounds, Cisse is not the biggest prospect, but he is one that many teams coveted for his intelligence, flexibility, and work ethic. While predominately an outside corner, Cisse has the ability to play in the slot and impact the game in many ways. He began his college career at North Carolina State before ending at South Carolina, where he emerged as an NFL talent that some speculated could be selected in the first round.

Even before officially becoming a member of the Packers, Cisse was already a huge fan of a certain Green Bay. Speaking with Richard Sherman on his podcast multiple weeks before the draft, Cisse had an instant response when Sherman asked him what the best defensive back he studied growing up: Charles Woodson. Although Cisse was still a young kid when Woodson and the Packers were lifting the Lombari trophy in 2011, it did not stop the young defensive back from learning from and studying one of the greats at the position.

Cisse further revealed on his podcast that practically every NFL team had shown interest in him and remained in contact with him throughout the draft process. Safe to say that Green Bay was one of those teams.

At just 20 years old, Cisse is a younger prospect with a lot of room to grow. Nonetheless, he projects as someone the Packers can trust to play outside corner right away but also has the ability to line up in other spots. Sherman and Cisse discussed his former South Carolina teammate Nick Emmanwori, a young star for the Seattle Seahawks, as an example of positional flexibility. Cisse expressed confidence in his scheme understanding and ability to line up in various spots.

The Green Bay coaching staff will be eager to begin working with a young man like Cisse who has both plenty of talent and the work ethic to match.
