Liverpool took a huge step towards qualifying for next season’s Champions League as they beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
After Alexander Isak had put the Reds in front at Anfield, Andy Robertson doubled their advantage prior to the break.
Daniel Munoz then pulled one back for the Eagles, but a superb strike from Florian Wirtz restored the hosts’ two-goal lead and ensured Liverpool leapfrog Aston Villa into fourth place in the top flight standings.
Next up for Liverpool is a visit to face old rivals – and fellow Champions League hopefuls – Manchester United at Old Trafford on May 3, before a home game against Chelsea.
Ahead of their trip to Manchester, it has emerged that Liverpool are hoping to hijack one of their rivals’ moves for a Premier League defender.
As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool remain in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi this summer, despite Tottenham Hotspur having been in talks about a possible move.

Senesi, 28, is set to be out of contract at the end of the season and it is claimed that the player has decided he will not sign new terms with the Cherries.
The Argentine has impressed over the past couple of seasons but is expected to leave the south coast this summer, but it isn’t currently clear where he will end up despite Spurs being in ‘advanced’ talks with the player.
While Spurs are said to have made contact with the centre-back’s representatives about a potential move this summer, the report suggest that Liverpool retain an interest and could attempt to hijack the deal.
Senesi joined Bournemouth from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2022 and has since made 124 appearances for the club across all competitions.
