Here’s how the Scarlets players rated in the 23-21 defeat to the Bulls
Scarlets were edged out 23-21 by the Bulls at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday night.
South African fly-half Handre Pollard ultimately made the difference on the night, kicking over 13 points on the night to earn his side victory.
The result was arguably a little harsh on the Scarlets, who ran over three tires to the Bulls’ two, but still managed to come up just short.
Here’s how the players rated on the night.
Blair Murray 6
No one made more carries than the full-back, but he did give away a few turnovers on the night.
Callum Woolley 7
Took his try well. Made a mistake that nearly cost his side in the first half, but recovered well. Faded a little after the break, but otherwise a debut to remember.
Joe Roberts 6
Plenty of effort and endeavour but found it hard to penetrate a tough and bruising Bulls defence. Did produce some important carries, mind.
Eddie James 7
Took his try really nicely. Spurned a good chance for another, however, shortly before the Bulls regained their lead. Still, a fairly good performance.
Macs Page 5
Fairly quiet on the night.
Joe Hawkins 6
Superb vision for the opening try. Produced a really good kick for the corner in the first half that ultimately yielded his his side’s second try. Not much luck from the tee, however, with three conversion misses that ultimately proved costly.
Dane Blacker 6
Played his part in the second try, but allowed Vorster to slip through during a devastating Bulls counter that would put them back in front. Completed more passes than anyone, though.
Kemsley Mathias 6
Made some important tackles and some decent carries on the night. Fairly decent.
Ryan Elias 6
As above, really. Competed fairly well against a powerful Bulls pack.
Henry Thomas 6
Not quite as good with ball in hand, but still put in several key tackles.
Sam Lousi 5
Competed well enough but didn’t quite have the impact needed.
Max Douglas 7
Produced a superb carry in the first half that should really have been rewarded. Fairly effective in the lineout and also made a string of tackles.
Taine Plumtree 7
As above really. Also earned a try assist on the night.
Jarrod Taylor 6
Pretty good at the breakdown for much of the evening. Won a couple of important turnovers too
Fletcher Anderson (capt) 7 – STAR MAN
Showed great power to go over for his try. No one completed more tackles or carries.
