Arsenal fans have been reacting after the win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
That result meant they went back top of the Premier League, with Manchester City distracted by progress to the FA Cup final.
So how are the Arsenal fans now feeling about it all?
Some intriguing comments below regarding both Newcastle United and especially their own team and manager.
Less than four weeks to go now until the end of the season.
Arsenal fans commenting via their Arsenal Mania message board:
‘It feels bad… Arsenal is still genuinely fighting for titles, but somehow everything suggests it is not meant for us to win anything. Life can be heavy at times anyway, and at least for me I may have given too much weight to a football team I love.’
‘I expected us to beat Newcastle and play much better than we did. The only thing I did say before Saturday was that if Arsenal don’t win anything this season, I’d be taking an indefinite break from this club.’
‘Newcastle are no pushovers. It is a well coached team with some good players. It was a game of small margins. We got lucky with the handball of Hincapie and Wissa 100% chance.’
‘Newcastle are a team in terrible form having just lost 4 games in a row coming into this one. Barca did them 7-2 they will give up goals if you get at them. 1-0 is 3 points but we could have buttered up the GD nicely with a bit of balls.’
‘Arteta also rightfully had a go at referee, last two games our opponents should be down to 10 men.’
‘Good on Mikel calling out that both Man city and Newcastle should have got reds.’
‘Gabriel should have been sent off too let’s be honest, so think he needs to not be looking back to the Man City game.’
‘Agree and lucky because he’d likely miss 3 league games because of straight red.’
‘We should’ve went all in for Guimaraes 4 seasons ago.’
‘I feel like an ostrich. Lately I have been keeping my head in the sand and trying to protect myself. I have not been able to watch the games at all recently and it genuinely embarrasses me.’
‘Same here! I’ve not been watching games or coming on here. I couldn’t figure out why, because it’s not been a conscious thing…I genuinely seem to have lost interest. Maybe it is a protection thing.’
‘Newcastle had some very presentable chances but fluffed their lines. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they played well but they could easily have drawn make no mistake. They had more possession, more shots. For much of the game our players looked like rabbits in the headlights.’
‘Saka also looked like Saka instead of a ghost which was really nice. Anyone other than Burn out there and he probably scores immediately.’
‘Yup, if Burn didn’t have legs as tall as I am Saka’s first action is likely a goal.’
‘Newcastle had a couple of decent chances that another team could have easily put away.’
‘I think the best chance was the Wissa one but tbf that’s not one of the easiest techniques to hit an overhead volley like that. Def got lucky there.’
‘Think Burnley at home is probably the only one we are winning out of the 4. This team and this rat Manager doesn’t have the minerals to beat Fulham, West Ham and Palace.’
‘It’s a chore watching Arsenal nowadays. Very little flair to their game. But that’s all on the manager. Often he ignores technical players. He’s never in for the likes of Cherki, etc. But he’ll jump on bums like Madueke, Havertz, etc, like a lion on a gazelle. Years of him doing that has finally caught up with us. When did he last sign a French player for one?’
‘The few chances they had, a half decent team like a Fulham would put them away.
We got lucky… again.
Watching us play is so painful, we actually suck.’
‘Sick and tired really of watching this.’
‘Just watched the highlights, looks like all Newcastle did was shoot from 40 yards and create nothing.’
‘They had the best chance of the he game that wissa fluffed.’
‘Any reason why Lewis Hall not involved today?
I thought he been one of better players this season.’
‘Cooked them fools
Tindall grinds my gears.’
‘What exactly did Newcastle do?’
‘Have shots on goal mate.’
‘I’m not sure what Arteta thinks but we are not in a position to defend anymore, we need goals, goals goals.
Concede one, but score three, it’s better than winning 1-0. It also brings confidence to players.’
‘Newcastle really didnt deserve to lose today. But then again most of the teams that played us this year didnt deserve to lose on the balance of play.’
‘If Newcastle had bit of confidence in them they’ll get point they had thier chances but Bruno Guimaraes make huge difference the moment he went off seem they stopped dominating. Thier attack is worse than us.’
‘This simply isn’t a sustainable way to win football games. We’re so reliant on our opponents not being clinical that we’re just begging for someone like Bournemouth to punish us.’
‘Funny how you can win a game in a title race and go back top and feel less confident we have what it takes to go all the way.’
‘Newcastle have been poor this year in the league, but are a decent side.’
