The arm injury was inflicted at Wimbledon. He played just one match after that at the US Open before calling it quits as he looked to recover. Eventually he did, although a lot of delays and false horizons were involved. He made his return at the Davis Cup qualifier against Norway. His ATP comeback was a short-lived stint in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, losing in the second round to Arthur Rinderknech. His title defence at Indian Wells showcased the potential he has within, defeating Novak Djokovic before exiting at the quarterfinal stage to Daniil Medvedev.
Since then, he has played two matches – both ending in defeats. The latter was a retirement in the Barcelona Open against Tomas Martin Etcheverry. He attempted to play on with a knee injury but was forced to hobble away from Catalonia and back on the sidelines in a tragic turn of events.
Draper pulls out of Roland Garros
This knee injury has forced him to miss the Madrid Open, Rome Open and now Roland Garros. While the Grand Slam was the target, he was recommended by doctors not to compete, tredding with caution amid Draper’s prior injury problems.
Jack Draper in action
He joins seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz as the main casualties from the second major event of the year. Questions will continue to surround the British number two on when he will be fully fit and firing on all cylinders again. He had been touted to compete with the best in the world after a fantastic start to 2025, but his physical condition deteriorating paints a sad and frustrating picture for Draper, who will hope to be back for the grass swing, specifically Wimbledon.
