The hangover of the World Cup winning moment is still going on all over India. After 2007, the whole of India waited for 17 long years to get that happiness to be called the World Champions again. This time, every Indian’s dream was finally fulfilled as India became the T20 World Cup champion in 2024 in Barbados against South Africa under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. After this glorious victory of India, Indian honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the whole Indian team personally and also through his social media handle.

India won the T20 World Cup 2024 on 29th June against South Africa. Right after winning the World Cup, India’s honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the whole team and also talked to every individual. He also congratulated the team through social media as well where he especially talked about Virat Kohli who just announced retirement from the T20 Internationals right after winning the the T20 World Cup.

While writing about Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “ Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the Finals, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players.”

In reply to this heartfelt tweet, Virat Kohli responded, “ Dear @narendramodi sir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team which has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has bought the entire nation.”

Virat Kohli was a pillar of strength in India’s T20I batting lineup, accumulating 4188 runs in 125 matches with a remarkable average of 48.69. Alongside him, Rohit Sharma, who also retired from T20Is, ended his career as the format’s leading run-scorer with 4231 runs in 159 matches. Their retirements signify the end of a significant era, highlighting their tremendous contributions and enduring impact on Indian cricket in the T20I arena.
