Jeanie Buss is backing an unexpected name in local politics, showing support for Spencer Pratt in the 2026 Los Angeles mayoral race.
According to campaign filings, Buss recently contributed $1,800, the maximum allowed donation, to Pratt’s campaign, signaling clear support even without a public statement.
While the amount may seem modest given Buss’ wealth, especially after her family agreed to sell a majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers for $10 billion, it represents the highest legal contribution permitted in the race.
Pratt’s campaign has gained traction financially, reportedly bringing in around $540,000 this year – slightly ahead of Karen Bass and close to Nithya Raman.
However, Bass still holds a significant overall fundraising advantage dating back to 2024.
Polling suggests a competitive race, with Bass maintaining a lead but not by a wide margin, while Pratt and Raman remain within striking distance.
With the June 2 primary approaching, the race remains open as candidates continue to build momentum.
