How Liverpool Can Secure Champions League THIS Week

Liverpool, if results fall their way, could end the week having secured Champions League qualification, here’s how.

Arne Slot‘s side need a maximum of five points from their remaining Premier League fixtures to remain in Europe’s premier competition next season.

But their place in the Champions League could be confirmed as early as Sunday if the following results unfold over the coming weekend:

Brighton lose or draw at Newcastle (Saturday)
Bournemouth lose or draw against Crystal Palace (Sunday)
Liverpool win at Man United (Sunday)

As Brighton currently sit sixth with 50 points, if they fail to win on the weekend, they will be capped at either 60 or 59 points for the season.

Bournemouth, currently seventh on 49 points, would likewise be only able to achieve a maximum of 58 or 59 points.

Therefore, Liverpool would then be assured of a top-five finish if they beat Man United on Sunday, as a tally of 61 points would be unsurpassable by any team outside the top five.

It requires a lot falling in the Reds’ favour, but it is an outcome that is possible, though Slot’s side need to make sure they do their job, irrespective of what unfolds elsewhere.

Liverpool make the trip to Old Trafford for a 3.30pm (BST) start on Sunday, aiming for back-to-back league wins at United for the first time since 2021.

A victory could also see the Reds leapfrog Michael Carrick’s men into third place with three games remaining, as they too close in on Champions League qualification.
