R Ashwin scores magnificent century against Bangladesh on first day

The veteran Indian all-rounder came in to bat with India reeling at 144/6. Him along with Jadeja played sensibly at first in order to steady India’s ship. However, once they started hitting, they went all out.

Surprisingly, it was Ashwin who played the role of the aggressor while at times, Jadeja played the supporting role. The former played some marvelous shots and dismantled the opposing Bangladesh bowlers.

Ashwin brought up his half-century in the 60th over in only 58 balls. He would prove to be the game changer for India along with Jadeja as he wouldn’t stop in the final session of the day as well and would go on to score a spectacular century in the 78th over off just 108 balls.

This was his sixth century in red-ball cricket. His knock included 10 boundaries and 2 massive sixes as India crosses the 300-run mark way before the end of day’s play.

Jadeja also played a fabulous knock and remained unbeaten on 86 while Ashwin remained unbeaten on 102 as the Men in Blue closed out the first day on 339/6 in 80 overs. The duo ended the day with their partnership at 195 runs.

It will be interesting to see if the duo will be able to continue their magnificent partnership and take India over the 400-run mark on the second day of play.
