Jack Rafferty returns this weekend as he takes on Ekow Essuman.
Rafferty vs Essuman takes place on the undercard of Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois.
He spoke to Pro Boxing Fans and revealed a refreshed and rejuvenated mindset ahead of his return on Saturday.
Rafferty was last in action in August last year when he drew with Mark Chamberlain and admitted a need for rest after a long run of fights.
“I’ve had a busy time since Henry Turner… apart from the fights being hard, the camps sometimes were even harder.
“I’ve given myself a little bit of time off, which I think I deserved… straight back into business.”
He reflected on his last fight and how he feels he has improved his physical capabilities since then.
“A bit of a rest has done me a world of good… a real fighting fit Jack Rafferty for the ninth of May.”
Rafferty admitted he felt unfortunate not to get the win and discussed how talks of a rematch did take place but eventually broke down.
“I thought I won… unfortunately the rematch is not on.
“There were talks, but there were mandatories in between… things fizzled out.
“Never say never… it could happen again one day.”
He looks forward to a fight against Nottingham’s Essuman and revealed he is full of respect for his opponent.

‘The Engine’ was last in action in November when he was stopped by Jack Catterall at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“He’s lost to a world class fighter… no shame in that whatsoever.
“He’s called Echo the engine for a reason… we all know what he brings.
“What a fight, what a show to be a part of.”

The ‘Demolition Man’ opened up on his motivations behind his training camps and each and every one of his fights.
“When I lost my mum, that’s the biggest loss I’ve ever had in my life… I can’t lose anything else.
“You can make something of yourself with that pain… I make my mum proud every day.”
