LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers continues to defy Father Time. On Friday, he led the Lakers to a Game 6 win over the Houston Rockets, 98-78. James finished with 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists on 40.0% shooting from deep.
It was a crucial game for the Lakers, since it was a do-or-die situation. The Lakers had a 3-2 lead entering Game 6, after they lost the past two games. LA will now face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Lakers also have Rui Hachimura to thank for his magnificent 21 points on 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Additionally, Deandre Ayton’s effort played a significant role in the team’s success. Despite only scoring seven points, he had 16 rebounds and dominated the boards.

With James’ 28-point performance, he became the fastest player in Lakers history to record 1,500 playoff career points.
After the crucial win, James was asked about his record against Father Time.
“I’m kicking his [expletive],” James said. “Facts. He can go to somebody else at this point. He already lost to me. It’s over with.”
The Lakers had a great first-round series against the Rockets, even without their best player, Luka Doncic. The Slovenian star continues to be on the sidelines due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Now that they will face the Thunder, the team needs him to be healthy and return to the lineup.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke highly of James after the series win against the Rockets.
“To me, he’s had the greatest career of any NBA player. You can argue all you want… He’s one of, if not the greatest of all time,” Redick said.

James and the rest of the team are prepared to face the defending champions. It will be a tough challenge to face since they did not win a single game in their four-game season series. The four-time champion is aware of the energy that the Thunder brings on the defensive end. They will be prepared for it.
“You have to protect the ball against those guys. They play physical, handsy defense,” the four-time MVP said.
One of the biggest stories heading into the second round of the postseason is the availability of Doncic. According to past reports, it’s highly likely that he will remain on the bench during the Lakers’ series against the Thunder.
Game 1 will be on Sunday at Paycom Center.
