Tadej Pogacar tightened his grip on the 2026 Tour de Romandie with a solo victory on the queen stage to Charmey, attacking on the final ascent of the Juanpass with under 20km to go, being briefly accompanied by Lenny Martinez, who was then replaced by Florian Lipowitz. He quickly opened a lead over Lipowitz and sped down the descent to the stage victory. With one day remaining, Pogacar looks to take his first stage race of the season. He is now 35 seconds ahead of Lipowitz, Martinez is 2:33 for Sunday’s uphill finale,
“It was pure teamwork. We said okay, if we come with seven riders over the first two climbs then we can go for the stage.”
