- Illinois DLC to release on 14th May 2026
American Truck Simulator’s Illinois DLC has a release date, with players able to travel around the ‘Prairie State’ from 14th May 2026.
The Illinois expansion will include Chicago, America’s third-largest city. With a population of nearly 3 million, ‘The Windy City’ is filled with parks, beaches, and innumerable amenities, making it a cultural hotspot in the Midwest.
The DLC also represents the in-game completion of the historic Route 66, which runs from Santa Monica in the West to Chicago, totalling 2,448 miles. The trail was established in 1926, and its paved surface contributed to increased trade and facilitated economic migration during the Great Depression (1929-1930).
The highway became romanticised in film and literature in the ensuing decades, but has since been superseded by wider modern highways, leaving many so-called ‘ghost towns’ along its route, some of which will be recreated by developer SCS Software.
SCS has the States of Louisiana, Missouri and Iowa in progress for the game, alongside console ports and road car DLC, with ATS set to be updated to V1.59 imminently.
The Illinois DLC is available to Wishlist on Steam now.
