Ted DiBiase Jr.’s connection to Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes had many expecting a reunion during WrestleMania season, but that was never part of WWE’s plans.
DiBiase Jr., who was part of the Legacy faction alongside Orton and Rhodes, was present during WrestleMania weekend and even filmed reaction content tied to the show. However, despite his history with both stars, he was never factored into the storyline leading into the WrestleMania main event feud.
According to Fightful Select, WWE did not seriously consider bringing DiBiase Jr. into the program at any point. Even with his direct connection to both Orton and Rhodes, the company viewed the storyline as functioning without him and did not see his involvement as necessary.
DiBiase Jr.’s recent legal situation also added context to the discussion. He was recently found not guilty in his welfare fraud case, clearing the way for future appearances or potential involvement in wrestling-related activities. Despite that development, it did not change WWE’s creative direction for WrestleMania.
Another wrinkle came from comments made by Randy Orton during an appearance on Culture Kings, where Orton stated that DiBiase Jr. owes him $25,000. That remark was described as serious, though the specific details behind the situation were not explained.
While DiBiase Jr. was in Las Vegas during WrestleMania weekend, he was not an invited WWE guest. Instead, he was in town for WrestleCon, and one source suggested that he may have secured access through outside sponsorship tied to a brand featured on his clothing.
Even with his Legacy ties to two of WWE’s top stars, the company chose to move forward without involving DiBiase Jr., making it clear that his presence around WrestleMania was unrelated to WWE’s creative plans.
