Errol Spence Jr: ‘I’m not making a return — I’m making a statement’
On July 25 in Australia, Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu will headline a PBC pay-per-view event on Prime Video. The main event will see former unified and pound-for-pound great Spence make his super welterweight debut against former IBF super welterweight champion Tszyu. In addition to the PPV being available for purchase on Prime Video, regardless of Prime membership, fans will also be able to continue to access the telecast through traditional cable and satellite outlets, as well as PPV.com. The event is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, Man Down Promotions and TGB Promotions. Undercard bouts will be announced soon.
The bout has been rumoured in recent weeks, but it has now been confirmed that they will meet at 154 pounds. Spence has reacted to the confirmation, sending a clear message to Tszyu.
Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu confirmed for July 25 in Australia
Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) has dazzled throughout his career at different times, recording elite wins against Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Kell Brook, among others. Two car accidents clearly hampered Spence’s career, leading to inactivity. The New York native southpaw was last seen in action three years ago, where he was comprehensively beaten by Terence Crawford.
Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) has had a career resembling a rollercoaster with plenty of highs, including Takeshi Inoue, Terrell Gausha, and Tony Harrison. Losses against Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev have prompted the Aussie fighter to change his training team on more than one occasion.
This feels like a make-or-break fight for both, and it remains to be seen just how much they have left.

Reflecting on his upcoming return, Spence said: “I’m grateful to be back,” said Spence. “I took time away to live in the moment, travel and to give my family my full attention. I got to enjoy the rewards of my hard work with the people who matter most. Now I’m locked back in.
“Three years away from the sport changed my perspective completely. I’ve grown mentally and physically sharper, and I’m more disciplined and locked in with a deeper level of appreciation.
I chose to come back in his hometown for a reason. No tune-ups. No easy road I’m stepping straight into his backyard into the fire because that’s where I do my best work. On July 25th, I’m not aiming to make a return. I’m making a statement.”
