The stage is set for the last day of the Madrid Open in the Spanish capital, when the world’s two most in-form players face off for the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open title. This is our preview and betting predictions for Jannik Sinner v Alexander Zverev in the Madrid final. A final matchup we might need to get used to as long as Carlitos is still injured.
Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev
Venue: Manolo Santana Centre Court
Scheduled Time: 18:30 CEST (Not before 17:00 local time)
This is the final we expected to be honest: World No. 1 vs. World No. 3 (As Alcaraz in still injured). Sinner is currently riding a historic 22-match winning streak. The Italian hasn’t lost a match since early March and is looking to capture his fifth consecutive Masters 1000 title – a feat that would truly be one of the most dominant runs in tennis history. He dismantled Arthur Fils in the semis and has looked physically fresh despite his heavy schedule.
Alexander Zverev, however, is the “King of Madrid.” Having won the title here twice before, the fast, high-altitude conditions perfectly complement his massive serve and backhand. Zverev ended the Cinderella story of Alexander Blockx in the semi-finals and is desperate to end a losing streak against Sinner that has seen the Italian win their eight (!) last encounters.
The Preview
- The Serve: Zverev has been the better server this week, landing more of the first serves compared to Sinner. In the Madrid thin air, if Zverev serves at that clip, he is incredibly difficult to break.
- The Return: Sinner is arguably the best returner in the game right now. He has converted his break point chances well this week and will look to punish any second serves Zverev offers.
- The History and H2H: While Zverev has the better historical record in Madrid, Sinner has the edge (as usual), having beaten Zverev in straight sets in their three previous meetings this season. Actually he has won 12 consecutive sets against the German, even though their full h2h is at 9-4 for Sinner.
Predictions and Best Bets – Sinner vs Zverev
Zverev is desperate to get something out of the games against the World no 1, but betting against Sinner right now feels like betting against the sunrise. I would expect a high-quality tactical battle that could go to three sets and we might see at least one tie-break.
My prediction: Sinner to win in three sets and become the first man to win five Masters titles in a row.
