CM Punk’s WrestleMania 42 entrance just got quietly changed—and fans didn’t miss it.
During Night Two of WrestleMania 42 on April 19 at Allegiant Stadium, Punk had a standout entrance that featured “Miseria Cantaré” by AFI—a licensed track he hadn’t used in WWE before. The moment included a cinematic opening shot of Punk on top of the stadium, followed by a brief walkout with no music before Cult of Personality kicked in. But that version didn’t make it everywhere.
Fans noticed that ESPN’s ESPN Unlimited platform altered the entrance in replays, swapping out the AFI track for generic stock music. The change caught attention fast, especially since the original version is still intact in other places.
The entrance with the licensed song remains unchanged on WWE’s social media uploads, including X and YouTube, and is also still featured in the Netflix replay available to international viewers.
That makes the ESPN version the outlier—and the likely reason comes down to music rights. Licensed tracks like AFI’s song often come with platform-specific restrictions, meaning WWE can use them in a live setting or certain broadcasts, but not across every distribution partner. When that happens, edits like this aren’t uncommon, even if they feel jarring compared to the original moment.
Still, for fans who watched it live, the difference is obvious. Punk’s entrance was built around that song, and swapping it out changes the entire feel of the presentation. For now, the original version isn’t gone—it just depends on where you’re watching.
Did ESPN make the right call replacing the music, or should they have kept Punk’s original Wrestle Mania entrance intact? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
