The Baltimore Ravens are signing quarterback Skylar Thompson, his agency, SportsTrust, confirmed. The move leaves the Ravens with five passers on their current roster.

Thompson’s signing comes just two days after the conclusion of the Ravens’ rookie minicamp, in which the team got its first look at undrafted rookie quarterbacks Diego Pavia and Joe Fagnano.

The Ravens are set at the top of their quarterback depth chart with veteran Tyler Huntley serving as the primary backup to Lamar Jackson. Ravens first-year head coach Jesse Minter acknowledged Saturday that the rest of the team’s quarterback picture is in “flux.”

“I think there’s a place for anywhere from three to five, honestly, especially for the offseason, just to kind of make sure that we have everything covered, and we’re getting guys different looks and kind of what we’re looking for,” Minter said. “I think that could be in flux, whether there’s veterans out there that we may want to look at or even a couple other rookies, but I think that’s a room you’re always trying to just find that perfect number, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Thompson, 28, was placed on injured reserve by the Pittsburgh Steelers in September of last year because of a hamstring injury, and he didn’t play during the regular season. A seventh-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2022, he remained with the team for parts of three seasons and started three games. Two of those came during his rookie season in 2022, and one in 2024.

The Ravens typically make a few roster moves after concluding their minicamp. The team has one open roster spot, but that seems earmarked for veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell, who is expected to finalize his deal this week. The Ravens also had roughly two dozen tryout players at their minicamp, and they often sign one or two from that group.

The addition of Thompson doesn’t necessarily mean the Ravens will move on quickly from Fagnano or Pavia, the polarizing Heisman Trophy finalist from Vanderbilt. However, carrying five quarterbacks on the roster is probably not in the team’s long-term plans.
