WWE Quietly Dropped Planned Statement On The New Day’s Exit — REPORT

The fallout from The New Day’s departure continues to unfold, as WWE reportedly held back on a planned public statement regarding the exit of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

While both stars addressed their departures individually on May 4, the company itself remained notably silent — at least on the surface.

As it turns out, that silence may not have been the original plan.

WWE planned but ultimately scrapped a public statement on the exit of The New Day

According to Fightful Select, WWE had internally prepared a joint statement acknowledging the departures of Kingston and Woods. However, for reasons that have not been disclosed, the statement was never released.

Instead, the company chose a quieter route. WWE is said to have expressed appreciation to both performers privately. WWE recognized their contributions behind closed doors rather than in a public announcement. It’s a case where the message was delivered — just not broadcast, almost like a promo that never made it to air.

The absence of a public statement stands out, given the significance of The New Day’s run. Kingston spent roughly 20 years with the company, while Woods’ tenure stretched close to 16 years. Together, they formed one of WWE’s most decorated and recognizable factions. This makes the lack of an official send-off all the more noticeable.

Their departure itself stemmed from contract discussions with TKO Group Holdings. Both Kingston and Woods declined to restructure their deals under reduced terms. This led to a mutual decision to part ways on May 2.

Following the split, both men shared personal messages reflecting on their time in WWE, offering fans a more direct goodbye than the company ultimately did. For now, both are believed to be under the standard 90-day non-compete clauses.

As WWE moves forward, the quiet handling of The New Day’s exit leaves an unusual footnote in an otherwise loud legacy — proof that even in a business built on microphones, some moments still go unsaid.
