Braxgata moved within touching distance of winning the Belgian men’s regular league as they produced a breathtaking 4-1 win over Gantoise last Friday.
Loick Luypaert broke the deadlock just before half-time from a corner and they were further clear via Thibeau Stockbroekx in Q3. Alexander Hendrickx got one back almost instantly but the tie was settled in the closing minutes when Stockbroekx scored twice more.
It puts them three points clear of Waterloo Ducks and with a goal difference advantage ahead of their final league game against Pingouin next Sunday.
Gantoise drop to third place and in a fascinating battle to complete the playoff spots. They are on 42 points, level with Orée and one ahead of fifth placed Herakles with the WatDucks on 43.
The key fixture is the meeting of Herakles and Waterloo with Gantoise going to Dragons and Orée facing Beerschot.
