Report: WWE roster cuts part of massive payroll reduction

Fightful Select has reported that a number of talents were approached by WWE with a potential pay cut to remain with the company, with several given two days to make a decision.

Notably, this came on April 24, the same day that several talents were reported as released from and otherwise departing WWE, including Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, the entirety of the Wyatt Sicks stable just to name a few.

The resulting roster cuts are reported to have been part of a large-scale payroll reduction by WWE, tasked with shedding millions of dollars in payroll over the past month.

News of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods requesting their release came with a similar report regarding the presentation of a pay cut in negotiations.

No details were provided as to who accepted the pay cuts as of this writing, with the New Day situation coming to light due in part to their stories becoming easier to trace and confirm after they were moved to the alumni section of the WWE website alongside JC Mateo and Tonga Loa.
