Former UFC featherweight and BMF champion, and current EA UFC 6 cover athlete Max Holloway has heard the talk about him facing off against Conor McGregor at UFC 329.
The card headlines International Fight Week this July, and McGregor’s return has been heavily rumored to headline the event. Following UFC Winnipeg last month, Dana White told Cageside Press that “it’s looking good” in terms of McGregor’s return, though he didn’t have anything specific to announce.
Rumors have swirled for weeks, however, the McGregor and Holloway might meet for the second time. The pair faced off early in their respective UFC runs, with McGregor earning a decision win in their 2013 encounter.
Speaking to Paramount+ (h/t MMA Fighting), Holloway admitted that the fight is one he’d like back, though he didn’t confirm the rematch was happening. He didn’t deny it, on the other hand, saying “maybe” when asked if he’d appear on the IFW card.
As for the McGregor match-up, Holloway believes it makes sense.
“I mean we have history. We have history. We fought a very long time ago,” Holloway told the UFC on Paramount+ Youtube channel, asked about training for an opponent without the fight actually signed. “And I told you guys, if somebody’s got one over me, I want to get him back. I’d love to get him back. With him having all this talk of coming back and everybody talking about how serious he actually looks like, he’s training and taking it and really wanting to come back to fight. It’s exciting.”
“He looks hungrier. He looks super-hungry. He just did a boxing exhibition not too long ago, so that was pretty cool to see him. I would just like to get one back. It’s know it’s a huge fight. It’s a big fight. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge but having history with the dude, being able to get one back would be cool. I’ve got to get my get backs on one of the guys, like I said. If I can keep knocking down the list, that would be great.”
UFC 329 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11, 2026.
