Even with the 2026 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains a free agent. Fans and analysts have begun speculating his next move.
Amongst the noise, the Arizona Cardinals were raised as a potential Rodgers landing spot. However, new head coach Mike LaFleur has poured cold water on that idea, rather focusing on the QBs already on the roster, via radio host Jim Rome.
“Right now we’re focused on the guys we’ve got coming in,” LaFleur said. “We’ve got a room we’re excited to work with, that’s solely were my focus is.”

As it stands, the Cardinals are expected to have a three-legged race for their starting quarterback honors. Veterans Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew likely have the upper hand based on seniority, but Carson Beck was a third-round pick. In his first year as head coach, LaFleur will be evaluating all options intently.
While it’ll be a brand new system, Brissett started 12 games for the Cardinals in 2025. Appearing in 14 overall, he threw for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdown and eight interceptions. Since he is the incumbent, Brissett may considered the starter entering training camp.
Minshew has served as a backup for a number of franchises over his career. He is coming to Arizona with 47 games of starting experience, going 17-30 overall. LaFleur clearly saw something in Minshew by bringing him to the Cardinals.
Then there’s Beck. As a third-rounder, his draft stock points to potential rookie starts. But that’ll all depend to how he develops in LaFleur’s system.
Of all these quarterback options, Rodgers is nowhere to be seen. With two veterans already on the roster, Arizona isn’t necessarily in need of a third. And if the quarterback is chasing a Super Bowl, the Cardinals in 2026 may not be his best bet.
