Daniel Dubois SLAMS Fabio Wardley for ‘disrespect’ at final press conference

Daniel Dubois SLAMS Fabio Wardley for ‘disrespect’ at final press conference

Daniel Dubois hit out at Fabio Wardley, as tensions threatened to boil over ahead of their heavyweight world title fight on Saturday in Manchester.

Wardley puts his WBO heavyweight crown on the line against former world champion, Dubois at the Co-op Live Arena, live on DAZN.

The pair’s rivalry has been simmering since the Ipswich man claimed earlier this week that Dubois would be working as a binman if he wasn’t fighting.

The 28-year-old challenger sent a fiery message in response during their final press conference at the Co-op Live on Thursday.

“Fabio I heard you called me the dustman and I’m going to collect the trash boy,” a fired up Dubois said.

“It’s disrespect so I’m going to put it right in the ring boy.

“I heard what you said.

“I’m going to burst his bubble anyway.”

Wardley hit back: “I didn’t call you the dustman.

“Someone asked me what you might have as a job [if you weren’t a boxer] and I said [you] might be a dustman.

“There was nothing negative about that.

“Don’t let other people get in your head and tell you what it comes across as.”

Dubois replied: “I heard what you said.”

Wardley responded: “You didn’t hear what I said.”

The pair went face-to-face for the second time in fight week with Wardley vowing to knockout his rival, who insisted he will become a two-time world champion “by any means necessary.”

Wardley makes a first defence of his crown after being elevated from interim champion to full titlist in November, following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate the belt instead of facing him.

The 31-year-old, who heads in as a slight favourite with the bookmakers, knocked out Joseph Parker in the 11th round in his last outing in October.

Dubois, who previously held the IBF heavyweight title, looks to return to winning ways after suffering a fifth round knockout loss to Usyk last August in a bid for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
