Shakira Announces Long-Awaited FIFA World Cup Return as New 2026 Anthem Is Revealed

Music has been an important part of World Cups, and fans have expected to see FIFA deliver in bringing iconic anthems to life for the competition. Over the years, football fans have been vocal about their opinions on the anthems for the previous World Cups.

Many argue that the standards for a great World Cup anthem started in 2010, when the FIFA World Cup was played in South Africa, and the iconic ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ was heard.

The song, sung by the Colombian superstar Shakira, is considered by many as the greatest World Cup song of all time. It was not her first World Cup song as she did one for the 2006 World Cup, ‘Hips Don’t Lie – Bamboo Remix’, and for the 2014 World Cup, ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’.

The Colombian singer announced that she will return to create another anthem for the FIFA World Cup, marking her fourth anthem for a FIFA World Cup.

This announcement has excited many fans as they wanted another song by Shakira following the success of ‘Waka Waka’ and ‘La La La.’

What is Shakira’s New World Cup Song Called?

On her social media pages, Shakira announced her new FIFA World Cup song ‘Dai Dai’, which features Burna Boy.

Shakira wrote, “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready!”

This is not the only song FIFA announced for the 2026 World Cup, as they previously revealed ‘Echo’ by Daddy Yankee and Shenseea, ‘Por Ella’ by Los Angeles Azules and Belinda, and ‘Lighter’ by Jelly Roll and Carin Leon.
