Anna Hall Takes the Heptathlon, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi Takes the 800 meters, September 20, 2026!

Our highlights today:

  1.  In the 800 meters, led by Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi’s amazing 1:41.86!  Djamel Sedjati, ALG, and Marco Arop, CAN, for bronze, with silver and bronze under 1:42!

  2. Anna Hall, USA, takes gold in the heptathlon, with Kate O’Connor of Ireland taking silver, Ireland’s first medal in twelve years!

  3. Beatrice Chebet wins her second gold, in the 5,000m, after her 10,000m gold earlier in the meet. Faith Kipyegon, who won the 1,500 meters, took silver in the 5,000 meters!

  4. Jessica Schilder, NED, delivers gold in the shot put, on the very last of her attempts, hits 20.29m! Gold goes to the Netherlands!

  5. Maria Perez, ESP, and Caio Bonfim, BRA, took the gold in the Women’s and Men’s 20km race walks, which were competed on in the heat and humidity of Tokyo!
  6. Juleisy Angulo (Ecuador) takes the gold in the Women’s Javelin!
