Chelsea visit Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday knowing that they are at risk of missing out completely on European qualification.

The Blues lifted the Club World Cup trophy less than 12 months ago but have endured a dismal campaign and currently sit ninth in the top flight standings.

Caretaker boss Calum McFarlane will expect to see his side improve following their dire 3-1 defeat at home against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest last time out, although the reigning Premier League champions will likely provide a stern test.

Away from the action, it appears that the west London outfit have been handed some good news ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

As reported by The Express, Manchester United have ruled out a summer move to sign Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

The Englishman is widely regarded as one of the standout players in the English top flight, but his performances of late have left plenty to be desired.

Having joined the Blues from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer registered a combined 72 goals and assists across his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

This season his form has nosedived, though, while the midfielder has also been hampered by injuries.

Palmer has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United – the club he supported as a child – but the report claims that the Red Devils are not pursuing a move for the player as they are focussing on strengthening their squad in other areas of the pitch.

United are on the hunt for at least two new midfielders, as well as two new defenders, and Palmer’s likely price tag of around £90 million means that they will now attempt to sign him this summer, according to the report.
