Josh Yohe: The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Connor Dewar to a two-year deal at a $2.25 million cap hit.

Puck Pedia: The Utah Mammoth sign 2025 4th round pick, forward Yegor Borikov to a three-year entry-level contract with a $995,000 cap hit and $967,000 AAV.

Injury Notes

Rachel Lenzi: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin on the late-game ‘injury’ he suffered in Game 1: “It hurt, but I’m not injured, I’ll say that.”

Evan Rawal: Colorado Avalanche forward Joel Kiviranta practiced yesterday and defenseman Josh Manson and Cale Makar didn’t.

Bailey Curtis: It was Kiviranta’s first time since the end of round 1. Coach Jared Bednar last week said that he was day-to-day.

Lia Assimakopoulos: Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen had torn his MCL at the Olympics. No surgery is required. GM Jim Nill said that he had wished Rantanen could have had another week or two of recovery before he did come back. Nill added: “I never really thought he was himself .”

Lia Assimakopoulos: The long list of Stars’ injuries from this season.

  • “Oskar Bäck – wrist injury in October, missed 10 games, sprained shoulder in the playoffs
  • Nathan Bastian – broke finger, had surgery, would have been available for second round
  • Jamie Benn – punctured lung in camp, concussion in December
  • Lian Bichsel – fracture to leg and ankle in regular season, out 32 games, sprained shoulder last game of playoffs, will be OK
  • Michael Bunting – groin injury, wasn’t available until playoffs
  • Matt Duchene – concussion, missed 25 games in regular season
  • Adam Erne – MCL sprain in December, missed 4-6 weeks
  • Radek Faksa – concussion at Olympics, then serious laceration on foot after being stepped on by skate, still is serious, didn’t think he would play at all, may require more surgery, cut a ligament
  • Thomas Harley – broke foot in November, missed 12 games
  • Roope Hintz – sick in Olympics, double hamstring tear in first game back, close to coming back, re-injured just when he was getting close
  • Arttu Hyry – high ankle sprain in playoffs, out for another 2-4 weeks
  • Nils Lundkvist – fractured leg and ankle in regular season, facial laceration in playoffs, “very lucky man,” Nill said, also had a concussion because of the facial laceration
  • Mikko Rantanen – tore MCL in Olympics, came back as quickly as he could but was never himself again
  • Tyler Seguin – torn ACL in December.
  • Ilya Lyubushkin – had shoulder injury in regular season
  • Sam Steel – had groin injury in regular season
  • Tyler Myers – had groin injury in regular season
  • Miro Heiskanen – had oblique tear just before playoffs, wasn’t fully healthy, sprained ankle in the playoffs”

The Oilers and Maple Leafs Talked Darnell Nurse, and the Sharks First Round Pick

Joe Smith: Minnesota Wild coach Jon Hynes didn’t have an update on forward Joel Eriksson Ek or defenseman Jonas Brodin. Both players haven’t skated since they suffered their injuries.

  • Joe Smith: Despite not skating yet, Hynes wouldn’t say if Eriksson Ek would be out of the lineup or not for Saturday. Brodin is progressing and they are “optimistic” that he might be in the lineup.
