As previously reported, WWE legend and 17-time World Champion John Cena is set to make an appearance at the 2026 Backlash pay-per-view event this Saturday, and he has a significant announcement planned. Cena recently hinted that this announcement will be shocking for WWE fans, superstars, champions, and rookies alike.
According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, there is an expectation within the company that Cena’s announcement at the event will relate to the upcoming launch of Club WWE. WWE initially revealed details about Club WWE, its new fan program, during the April 13th episode of RAW.
The report also highlighted high expectations for the program, with sources indicating that Cena being the face of the brand significantly boosts its potential. When asked whether the announcement could pertain to a WrestleMania location, sources described that possibility as unlikely.
The Club WWE announcement video promises perks such as early access to tickets, exclusive merchandise drops, rewards for attendance and engagement, a global community forum, an exclusive hub, and bonus content that expands the WWE Universe.
WWE Backlash will take place this Saturday, May 9th, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, and will air live on ESPN Unlimited in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
