With the success of Tecnifibre’s Razor line – particularly Tecnifibre Razor Code and Razor Soft, it makes for the brand to develop an even more spin-oriented string with similar ingredients. Here is a closer look at the Tecnifibre Razor Spin tennis strings.
First Impressions: A More Aggressive Direction
Razor Spin feels like a deliberate shift in Tecnifibre’s philosophy. Razor Code is round, controlled, linear and Razor Spin is shaped, aggressive and launchy. The idea is to compete with more spin-focused strings like Solinco Hyper-G, Yonex Poly Tour Spin, and HEAD Lynx Tour. But the square-shaped Razor Spin is even more grabby than the five or six-sided strings mentioned. It is more in line with a Toroline Wasabi.
I tested Razor Spin in the Tecnifibre Fire 305S, and it was impressive how much it grabbed the ball. I felt like it was easy to rip and dip into the corners. Sure, you get more predictability with Razor Soft, but if you want to launch ball high up against your opponent, the playability was quite addictive.
Construction & Tech
While detailed official specs are still limited, Razor Spin follows the Razor family blueprint:
- Co-polyester monofilament
- Includes polyurethane additives (Tecnifibre signature)
- Designed for precision + controlled power
We’ve seen similar construction in Razor Soft, which uses PU additives to enhance pocketing and feel. You can still feel that DNA in Razor Spin, but it does play a little firmer to me, so sensitive elbows or wrist might want to be careful with racquet setup and tension when testing this string.
Playability
This string is, predictably, considering it is square-shaped, a real spin monster. You can take full cuts on the ball and expect it to dip in, over and over again. If you like a string that really grabs the ball, this should be tested. It did not feel wild to me, so I could also play it in racquets like the Aero 98 with confidence. If I would string it in a more control-oriented racquet like the Tfight 305S, I would reduce the tension quite a bit, otherwise it might be too firm.
I don’t think it’s hyperbole to call this Tecnifibre’s most spin-oriented string so far. It offers excellent bite, decent snapback and a higher launch angle than other Tecnifibre strings I have tested. It is good to know that this is not a string if you are looking for power or comfort, it is all about spin and grab. I think the PU additives takes some harshness out of it, but I would still not call it a soft string and neither is Razor Soft if you ask me.
Tension Maintenance & Durability
Tecnifibre strings are generally strong here, and Razor Spin follows suit. It offers good tension maintenance with a consistent response over time. Since it is durable, some players that do not break strings might want to keep it in the racquet for a long time, I would advise against that. A poly string loses its elasticity and goes dead and you won’t get the addictive snapback or spin potential that they are known for. You need to keep the poly relatively fresh and stay up on your stringing.
Where Razor Spin Fits in the Tecnifibre Lineup
Let’s simplify it:
| String | Identity |
|---|---|
| Razor Code | Maximum control, firm |
| Razor Soft | Control + better feel |
| Razor Spin | Control + spin + decent feel |
Who is it for?
Advanced players who can generate lots of racquet head speed and want a string that accentuates spin and launch. If you like to “rip the felt off of the ball” this string will help you shred balls even faster thanks to its four-sided bite.
If you are an intermediate player who likes some pocketing or trampolining from your string bed, this is not for you. Players with arm issues can find much more comfortable and powerful strings than Razor Spin. Check out our arm-friendly strings or Recommended strings.

Summary
Tecnifibre Razor Spin is a control-first spin string. It is relatively user-friendly and has a decent feel compared to many shaped polys thanks to the PU additives. It is ideal for advanced baseliners who like a string that really grabs the ball.
