FIFA U20 WWC Qualifiers: Black Princesses coach Charles Sampson praises team’s character after World Cup qualification – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Black Princesses coach Charles Sampson says words cannot describe how he feels after his team defied all odds to secure a place at the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup after eliminating Uganda.

Ghana came from a goal down to beat Uganda 2-1 in Accra before settling for a 1-1 draw in Kampala after playing most of the game with a player down.

“The girls showed a lot of character, a lot of resilience and willingness beyond the normal. I am so so proud of them. Proud of the team and how they have been able to qualify,” he said after the game.

“This is one of the things that made me to say how we qualified is what I am so impressed with. This group has been tested in so many ways and to be able to come out with this too, and this red card when we were down with one and shown this sort of resilience and character to be able to qualify, words can’t describe how I feel.”

The Black Princesses will be making a tenth appearance at the World Cup following their success over Uganda.

Coach Sampson is expected to build a side capable of going a step further at the World Cup after may attempts to go beyond the group stage failed in the past.
