Gio Reyna’s long and frustrating wait to end his goalless drought at club level came to an end on Saturday.
Reyna scored his first goal of the 2025-26 campaign in Borussia Moenchengladbach’s 3-1 Bundesliga loss to Augsburg. It also marked Reyna’s first goal for Gladbach and his first overall at club level since January 2025.
Michael Gregoritsch opened the scoring for Augsburg after 24 minutes before Robin Fellhauer doubled the hosts lead three minutes before halftime.
Reyna came off the bench in the 58th minute and would play the final 30+ minutes in the match.
Gregoritsch padded Augsburg’s lead at 3-0, but Reyna would add a late consolation goal to give the visitors a slight bright spot on the afternoon.
Reyna picked up Rocco Reitz’s pass before slotting home a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner.
Fellow U.S. men’s national team player Joe Scally played the full 90 minutes in the loss while Noahkai Banks did not feature for Augsburg.
11th place Gladbach will conclude its league schedule on May 16 against Hoffenheim as Reyna aims to earn. start in the club’s season finale.
