John Cena made a major announcement at WWE Backlash 2026, unveiling a brand-new show, championship, and competition format.
Cena revealed that the “John Cena Classic,” a tournament that will pit WWE main roster stars against talent from WWE NXT. The winner of the tournament will be crowned the inaugural Cena Classic Champion and awarded the newly introduced Cena Classic Championship.
In a unique twist, the championship winner will ultimately be determined by a fan vote. That means a superstar could still walk away with the title even after losing matches throughout the tournament, as long as they receive enough support from the WWE Universe.
WWE has not yet announced when the John Cena Classic will officially take place.
