It’s time for some incredibly early NFL Draft examinations. 257 players were selected for the NFL draft, and history tells us that approximately 4 of them will have hall of fame careers. More will win Super Bowls, and even more will have long careers in the NFL and be beloved by fanbases. However, teams spend months trying to pick out the best possible players, and still seem to get it wrong on draft night.
While it’s really too early to tell how good players from this draft class will be, it’s easy to pick out already where some teams in the NFL have already gone wrong with the draft selection. Some took massive risks that may not pay off, some passed on great players, some didn’t fulfill their team’s needs. Some teams may look back at this draft as the day it all went wrong. Here’s a look at the biggest losers from the 2026 NFL draft, and where they went so wrong.
Losers from the 2026 NFL draft
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars didn’t have any 1st round picks this year, but still managed to catch the eyes of pundits and fans for just how badly they managed their draft. Their first pick at #56, Nate Boerkircher, a tight end from Texas A&M, was taken off the board at least two rounds before any expected, and the same is true for the rest of their picks.
The Jaguars have clearly gambled on several of their picks, but considering how many players they took from the later rounds, including 4 players from rounds 6 and 7, it could go down as a rough night for the Jaguars.
Los Angeles Rams
The problem with the Ram’s draft lies in what they passed up on the board as much as the players they took. Corner and wide receiver were both needs that the Rams had heading into the draft, and with their first pick at #13, Makai lemon and KC Concepcion were both still on the board, and the Rams office took neither.
The drafting of Ty Simpson also turned heads as one of the worst picks on the night. The Alabama quarterback carries with him a host of durability concerns, and even if he stays fit, he’s a long term solution when the Rams are looking to get to the Super Bowl now.
Arizona Cardinals
It might be counter-intuative to say that the Cardinals lost in this draft, considering they drafted one of the best players in the draft in RB Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame. But no matter how good Love will be (and he will be excellent), he will not thrive in Arizona if they have no plan for him.
The current state of the Cardinals roster is a mess; they needed a wide receiver and several tweaks to their offensive line before they needed a new RB. Arizona had too many holes in their roster and didn’t fix them in the draft, so no matter how good Love is, he won’t get the help he needs.
