Dominik Mysterio’s RAW Match Makes AAA Championship History Across WWE And AEW

The May 11, 2026, episode of WWE RAW added another big moment to the history of the AAA Mega Championship. Dominik Mysterio defended the title against the Original El Grande Americano in a match.

Americano focused heavily on Mysterio’s arm early in the match, using technical wrestling and submission moves. He locked in an ankle lock, applied a kneeling armbar, and kept attacking the champion’s left arm to slow him down.

Mysterio eventually fought back with strikes in the corner before hitting a monkey flip that sent Americano crashing into the ring post. He then tried to finish the match with a dropkick and set up for the 619. However, Americano avoided it and answered with an Olympic Slam and a diving moonsault for a close nearfall.

The challenger kept the pressure on with a lucha arm drag, a Michinoku Driver, and a bridging Dragon suplex that nearly won him the title.

Then the interference happened.

Rayo and Bravo came out to help Mysterio, but Los Hermanos Americanos showed up and got involved, too. El Grande Americano also stayed ringside and distracted Original.

As the Original El Grande Americano tried to remove the other Americano’s mask, he accidentally left himself open. Mysterio took advantage, hitting the 619 before landing a Frog Splash from the top rope to win the match.

The AAA Mega Championship became the first title defended on both WWE and AEW TV

The match was already important because it was the first time the AAA Mega Championship had ever been defended on RAW. But it also made history because the title has now been defended on both AEW Dynamite and WWE RAW. This is something no other championship has done in modern wrestling.

The AAA Mega Championship, created by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, has become one of the most well-known titles outside WWE and AEW. Because of AAA’s partnerships with different promotions, the championship has appeared across several major wrestling companies over the years.

The title first appeared on AEW TV back in March 2020, when Kenny Omega defended it against Sammy Guevara on Dynamite. Now, Dominik Mysterio vs. Original El Grande Americano has brought the championship to WWE RAW for the first time ever.
