ITA Announces Upcoming Board of Directors Appointments

Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) has announced today its Board of Directors for the term starting July 1, 2026, including numerous new members. Featuring a selection of coaches, athletic directors, and business professionals, all of these members are high achieving individuals within their respective fields and will help tremendously in the continued success of the ITA and college tennis.

Joining the board as new or returning members this July include Chad Berryhill, Arnau Brugues, Jeffery Kotzen, Cristina Moros, Alison Ojeda, and Ryan Sachire. Each of these members will serve a two year term and will be joined by Neel Grover (Chairman), Shaheen Ladhani (Investment Chair), and David Mullins (CEO) who each have been re-elected to serve two-year terms. 

Current board members, Harold Edwards (Treasurer), Craig Morris, David Roditi, and Lopa Zielinski (Secretary) will join the Class of 2027 where they will join Shabbi Khan, Mark Kovacs, James Marsalek, Glenn Turner (Executive Committee), and Todd Wojtkowski. 

Additionally, Kit Codik, John Shackelford, and Jon Vegosen (Chairman Emeritus) have all been appointed as Special Advisors to the ITA Board of Directors. All Special Advisors to the Board will serve one-year terms, as stated in ITA By-Laws.

I’d also like to thank our returning members and advisors for their continued commitment to advancing the student-athlete experience and elevating our sport nationwide.”

Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen the ITA’s role as an advocate, authority, and builder for college tennis, and to ensure the sport continues to thrive for coaches, programs, and student-athletes across every level of play.”

The ITA Board of Directors was formed in 1979 and still sets out to serve the needs of the ITA member coaches and college tennis in its entirety. Comprising collegiate coaches, athletic directors, and prominent members in business, law, sport, media, and philanthropy, the ITA Board members capitalize upon their balanced and well-rounded set of viewpoints to help ensure the long-term sustainability of college tennis as one of the most vibrant college sports.


Chad Berryhill

Chad Berryhill enters his 21st year in college coaching, having begun his career in the industry at the age of 22. A native of Lansing, Michigan, Berryhill earned his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in the Professional Tennis Management program. After completing the PTM program, he was hired to work at the Tennissmith School under industry leader, legend, and mentor Steve Smith, while also serving as the head coach of the women’s tennis team at Hillsborough Community College. In his third season at the helm, his team captured the 2008 NJCAA National Championship, and in three additional seasons finished NJCAA Runners-Up. He then moved to the Division I level, coaching at the University of Central Florida as the men’s assistant coach under Bobby Cashman. After his two-year stint with the UCF Knights, Berryhill returned to his alma mater, Ferris State University leading the Men’s and Women’s programs. There, Berryhill elevated the men’s team to national prominence, snapping Northwood’s 20-year conference championship streak. In 2016, he led the Bulldogs to the GLIAC Championship and an NCAA Division II Final Four appearance. After five successful years in Big Rapids, Berryhill returned to Florida to lead both the men’s and women’s programs at Saint Leo University in the Sunshine State Conference. Under his leadership, the Lions won multiple conference championships and emerged as national contenders. In 2023, he guided both teams to the ITA Men’s & Women’s National Team Indoor Championships, where the men captured the national title and the women finished as runners-up. His programs were consistently ranked in top three nationally. In 2022 and 2023, Berryhill was also named the ITA National Coach of the Year. Berryhill is currently in his third season coaching the women’s tennis team at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. Berryhill also serves as the National Award Chair for the ITA, sits on the ITA South region ranking committee, and is a member of the ITA Division II Operating Committee and the NCAA Coaches Connection.


Arnau Brugues

Arnau Brugues is a former professional and collegiate tennis player who achieved a career‑high ATP singles Ranking of No. 135 and a No. 1 NCAA Division I Ranking. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science and an MBA from the University of Tulsa. A four‑time All‑American and four‑time Conference USA Player of the Year, he was the 2006 ITA All‑American Champion and the 2009 National Senior Player of the Year. In recognition of his exceptional collegiate career, he was inducted into both the Conference USA Hall of Fame and the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame.

Since 2015, Brugues has built a distinguished career with the ATP Tour, progressing from a Player Relations and Social Media intern to Senior Tour Manager. With over a decade of experience supporting professional tennis players at ATP events and Grand Slams, he currently serves as the Player Relations liaison for the Challenger Tour team, with a strategic focus on the professional players’ pathway. He is also a member of the working group for the Nitto ATP Finals, bringing a deep understanding of the sport and combining his on‑court experience with strong business, organizational, and communication skills.


Jeff Kotzen

Jeff Kotzen is a Managing Director & Senior Partner at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG)—a leading global management consulting firm where he is the Global Topic Leader of Shareholder Value Advisory. Kotzen is a trusted C-Suite advisor with 34+ years of experience helping Boards, CEOs and their leadership teams drive ambitious change agendas by developing and implementing high-impact and actionable strategies. Kotzen is recognized as a leading authority on Corporate Strategy, Portfolio Strategy, Shareholder Value Strategy, and Transformation program execution. Kotzen consistently helps clients identify and deliver billions of dollars of value creation. Kotzen earned his MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received his B.A. in Economics from Haverford College. He received a varsity letter for tennis at Haverford. Kotzen has always loved tennis as a player, “student”, fan, and parent. He and his wife (Danielle) have three sons who each have played/play Division I tennis at Columbia University. Tennis has taught Kotzen and his family many invaluable life lessons including hard work, discipline, tenacity, resilience, and integrity. Kotzen is passionate about helping under-resourced children and families gain access to tennis through his work with Rally For Tennis and Greater Newark Tennis & Education.


Cristina Moros

Cristina Moros is a former national champion and four time All-American at the University of Texas. Since graduating, Moros has committed herself to the next generation of tennis players, believing in helping young players achieve their dreams. Taking the reins of the University of South Florida program in 2015-16, Moros quickly turned USF into a contender in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). During her time with the Bulls, Moros has guided USF to an AAC Championship (2017), two conference runner-up finishes, and was named the 2017 AAC Coach of the Year. Additionally, she has coached 11 All-AAC performers, including three AAC Freshmen of the Year. Prior to her time at USF, Moros served as associate head coach at the University of Oklahoma (2012-14) and was named the 2014 ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year. During this time, Moros also served as the Big 12 representative on the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee. After Oklahoma she was named the head coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she helped the Miners achieve their best winning percentage (.706) in program history. In October of 2017, Moros was inducted into the Longhorns Hall of Honor. She is one of just two Texas players to earn All-American honors in all four years of eligibility.


Alison Ojeda

Former University of Tennessee All-American Alison Ojeda, now in her tenth season as the head coach of her alma mater, has guided Tennessee through one of its most successful eras in program history. The 2024 National Wilson ITA Coach of the Year and four-time ITA Ohio Valley Region Head Coach of the Year, Ojeda has led her program to the NCAA Championship field in each of her ten seasons at the helm. The Lady Vols have finished the season ranked in the top-25 seven times in her first nine seasons, including a program-best ninth in 2025. From 2023-2025, she led Tennessee to three straight NCAA sweet 16’s, two straight NCAA Quarterfinals and an NCAA Semifinal in 2024, which matched the program-best finish in the NCAA Tournament from 2002, when Ojeda led the Lady Vols to the National Semifinals as a player in her senior season. Off the court, Ojeda has been a steward for the young women she coaches. Her teams have had a perfect Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in every year of her tenure and have been recognized as an ITA All-Academic team six times under her leadership. In 2017, the Lady Vols were awarded ITA’s Community Service Award. Prior to the 2023 SEC Coach of the Year returning to Rocky Top, Ojeda made stops as the Head Coach at Middle Tennessee—guiding the Blue Raiders to their first winning season in program history in 2010—and as an Assistant or Associate Head Coach at Texas A&M, Alabama and Baylor, earning seven Big-12 championships with the Bears.


Ryan Sachire

As a former three-time All-American at Notre Dame, Ryan Sachire is now in his 13th season in charge of his alma mater, and has taken the Fighting Irish to new heights during his tenure. After enjoying a pro career that saw him win a total of 18 combined singles and doubles titles and achieve an ATP Doubles Ranking of No. 184, Sachire would begin his coaching career at Baylor during the 2005-06 season. After helping the Bears reach the Final Four in 2006, Sachire would make his return to Notre Dame as an Assistant/Associate Head Coach for seven years before being named the Head Coach prior to the 2013-14 season. In his 13 seasons, Sachire has won nearly 200 matches, has reached the NCAA Team Championship eight times, and has led the Irish to a Top 15 national ranking on three separate occasions. Sachire has coached two NCAA Semifinalists, eight All-Americans, and has had 20 players reach the NCAA Individual Championships under his guidance. As an active coach in the community as well, Sachire has had two players win the prestigious ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, and his ties to the community has helped him raise over $8 million dollars for the Notre Dame program.


Kit Codik (Special Advisor)

Kit Codik is a serial entrepreneur and early-stage company advisor based in San Francisco. He is the founder of Liquor.com, which he built into the leading digital media and commerce platform for the beverage alcohol industry before its acquisition by Dotdash Meredith (IAC), and co-founder of Finacity, a global trade receivables platform created in partnership with Bank of America, Euler Hermes and ABN Amro, later acquired by Greensill. He is currently focused on early-stage company building at the intersection of consumer data and AI. Kit holds a B.A. in Politics from Princeton University, where he competed on the varsity tennis team. He grew up competing in Southern California junior tennis in the 1980s, played D1 at Princeton, and has returned to competitive tennis on the USTA and ITF senior circuits, where he is currently ranked in the top five nationally in Men’s 55s.


John Shackelford (Special Advisor)

John Shackelford brings four decades of distinguished leadership in collegiate athletics to his role as director of athletics at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Shackelford has demonstrated exceptional expertise in managing more than 600 student-athletes on 26 varsity athletic programs since 2021. His remarkable 36-year tenure as head men’s tennis coach and director of tennis at Sewanee (1986-2021) produced extraordinary results, including mentoring more than 40 All-American student-athletes and contributing to 19 conference championships. His commitment to excellence in collegiate tennis was recognized with the 2023 ITA Meritorious Service Award. Shackelford also served as special assistant to the vice-chancellor at Sewanee from 2012 to 2015 where he focused on life outside the classroom for Sewanee’s student body. He holds a Master of Arts in education from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and a Bachelor of Arts in physical education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he played college tennis from 1979 to 1983, combining his educational foundation with proven abilities in athlete recruitment, community engagement, and strategic program advancement.


The ITA is the governing body of college tennis and a coaches association, both an advocate and an authority for the sport and its members.
