N.B.: Today marks the 7,500th entry on this blog. We’ve been posting, on average, once a day here in this space since September 2006, and we appreciate your following us through this wild journey in field hockey, lacrosse, and various and sundry women’s sports stories.
We’re starting to see some of our Top 10 finish their seasons, including our No. 1, Lutherville Maryvale Prep (Md.). More teams are going to be finishing off before Memorial Day, and that should make this picture somewhat clearer.
However, we did see something I don’t think has ever happened since we started doing lacrosse Top 10s — Concord-Carlisle (Mass.), facing a week with four games, lost three of them. I can’t blame the young women for this; the clustering of four games in one week is somewhat unusual and, in many state governing bodies of sport, is not allowed.
Still, the Patriots should have enough bona fides to make a title run in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
