Manchester United host Nottingham Forest on Sunday in their final home game of the Premier League season.
Michael Carrick’s side had already secured a place in next season’s Champions League prior to a goalless draw against Sunderland at The Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The former England midfielder has overseen impressive improvement since taking charge of United in January, but he has only been appointed as caretaker head coach and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be appointed permanently.
In the meantime, though, it appears that Man United have made progress in their attempts to sign a Brazilian midfielder this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, Man United have convinced Atalanta midfielder Ederson to join the club if they can reach an agreement to sign the player.
The report claims that the Red Devils have reach a broad agreement with the player on a long-term deal that would earn the Brazilian around £100,000-per-week, with the contract set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Ederson, 26, joined Atalanta from Italian rivals Salernitana in 2022 and has since played 179 times for his current club across all competitions.
The report suggests that Atalanta value Ederson at around £38.9 million, although the midfielder could ultimately end up costing as much as £52 million if a deal is to be agreed this summer.
United are on the hunt for a new central midfielder ahead of Casemiro’s impending departure from Old Trafford and, while the Red Devils have identified several possible targets, the report claims that they currently lead the likes of Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in the race to land Ederson.
The Brazilian’s current contract in Bergamo is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the player looks set for a big move this summer.
